VTOL Fixed-wing Training

Fixed-wing UAVs and multi-rotor UAVs are distinct types of unmanned aerial vehicles, each with unique characteristics and uses.

Fixed-wing UAVs are designed like conventional airplanes, featuring a rigid wing structure that allows for efficient lift. These UAVs can fly at higher speeds and cover greater distances than multi-rotors, making them ideal for tasks such as long-range surveillance and mapping. Piloting them typically demands specific training due to their complex flight dynamics.

Adult Students

Ground School

Before flight training candidates are required to attend ground school where they will cover subjects relating to the aircraft and the complexities of flying BVLOS.  Safety Management Systems (SMS), Crew Resource Management (CRM), and the Specific Operations Risk Assessment methodology are just a few of the topics included in the training.

Aircraft Type Rating

Comprehensive training covering the full capabilities of our fixed-wing training aircraft. Candidates will learn everything there is to know about the aircraft including, pre and post-flight checks, mission planning, flight execution, and contingencies. The training includes classroom instruction, and simulated and real flight lessons.

Visual Observers

As part of the progression to full BVLOS operations, candidates will receive training to both act as and operate with Visual Observers (VO). Candidates will work together as a crew to detect and avoid air traffic while remotely piloting the aircraft.

BVLOS and Night Operations

Candidates will fly actual BVLOS missions at night utilizing all of the skills and knowledge gained throughout the training. The culmination of the course is a flight exam requiring the candidate to plan and execute a BVLOS mission including a full SORA and simulated Transport Canada SFOC submission.
